Massachusetts's limited X-ray rules
Massachusetts created a new Limited Scope of Practice in Radiography license in 105 CMR 125, amended February 13, 2026, run by the Department of Public Health's Radiation Control Program. The exam is the ARRT Limited Scope of Practice in Radiography exam.
A licensee may practise in up to two procedure categories: chest, extremities, skull/sinuses, spine or podiatric radiography, with no fluoroscopy, contrast media or mobile imaging. It's a new program, so few people have taken the exam for it yet.
Worth knowing
- You need a Department-approved course of study; from September 1, 2027 training programs must be JRCERT accredited.
- 24 CEUs every 2 years.
