Colorado's limited X-ray rules
Colorado's CDPHE registers Limited Scope Operators (LSOs). Under 6 CCR 1007-1 Part 2, Appendix 2D, every LSO candidate takes the ARRT Limited Scope Core plus all four procedure modules: chest, extremities, skull/sinuses and spine. There's no body-area-only LSO, and podiatric isn't included.
Colorado scores the modules differently from most states: you need 75% on the Core and an average of 75% across the four modules, rather than 75% on each one.
Worth knowing
- Training: 80 hours didactic, 480 hours clinical and 84 documented exams.
- Three attempts within 2 years; you retake only the sections you failed, and your highest section scores are used.
- Bone densitometry is a separate Bone Densitometry Operator registration (ARRT BDEO at a scaled 75 or more, or ISCD CBDT plus 9 hours of radiation safety).
What you'll study for Colorado
Choose Colorado when you sign up and your practice questions, micro lessons and timed mock exams cover the core and the chest, extremities, skull/sinuses and spine modules, with nothing from modules Colorado doesn't use. Mock exams are weighted like the real one and scored section by section; we call you ready at 75% on every section.
| Section | Practice questions | Micro lessons |
|---|---|---|
| Core (patient care, radiation safety, image production) | 1,806 | 132 |
| Chest | 242 | 11 |
| Extremities | 718 | 41 |
| Skull/Sinuses | 134 | 10 |
| Spine | 232 | 12 |
A question or lesson that fits two sections is counted in both.
