Delaware's limited X-ray rules

Delaware's Office of Radiation Control issues a Medical Radiation Technician certificate with a Limited Scope of Practice. On application form ORC R16-S the Core Medical Exam is required, and you check every procedure area you want: Chest, Extremities, Skull, Spine and Podiatry.

The exam fee ($140 on the 2020 form) is paid to ARRT, and ARRT sends your results to the state. The form is dated February 2020 and the regulation (4466) was amended in 2024 and 2025, so confirm the current form and fee with the Office of Radiation Control.

Worth knowing

  • Failed examinees may retest twice per calendar year (Reg. 4466 s.6.3.4).
  • Bone densitometry is a separate "Bone Densitometry Only" certificate through the ARRT Bone Densitometry exam; ISCD is also accepted.

Some of Delaware's details aren't stated on an official page we could read. Check with your state board before you apply or register for an exam.
