Mississippi's limited X-ray rules
Mississippi's State Board of Medical Licensure issues a Limited X-Ray Machine Operator (LXMO) permit, but it's education-based, not exam-based: 12 hours of Board-approved education, 6 of them in radiation protection, with 12 CE hours per 2-year renewal.
The MSBML LXMO page and its 2026 application instructions mention no exam. An LXMO may work up to 1 year without the permit while earning the 12 hours. LXMOs can't do fluoroscopy, C-arm, contrast, CT, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy or mammography.
Worth knowing
- Dental and chiropractic office staff apply to their own boards instead.
