Hawaii's limited X-ray rules
Hawaii has no limited X-ray operator license or limited exam. Practising radiologic technology requires a full license (HAR 11-44-3 and HRS 466J-6), and the state only issues Radiographer, Radiation Therapist and Nuclear Medicine Technologist licenses.
The exemptions cover licensed practitioners, PAs, dental personnel and students. The board can issue special temporary permits in shortage areas. Bone densitometry with an X-ray source also needs a radiographer or nuclear medicine technologist license (HAR 11-44-3(c)).
