Alabama's limited X-ray rules
Alabama doesn't license limited X-ray machine operators. The Alabama Office of Radiation Control's FAQ says the state "does not currently require a license to operate a medical use x-ray machine."
What Alabama does require is instruction in safe operating procedures (Rule 420-3-26-.06). That training is employer-level, not a state exam, so there's no limited scope test to sit in Alabama.
What you'll study for Alabama
Alabama has no limited exam to match, so choosing Alabama gives you the full ARRT Limited Scope core and all five procedure modules: solid training for your employer's requirements and portable if you move to a licensing state.

Alabama limited X-ray FAQ
Do I need a license to take X-rays in Alabama?
Not a state license. The Alabama Office of Radiation Control says Alabama does not currently require a license to operate a medical use x-ray machine; operators need instruction in safe operating procedures under Rule 420-3-26-.06.
Why study limited scope material if Alabama has no exam?
The limited scope core (radiation safety, patient care and image production) is the same ground the safe-operation instruction covers, and it's the exam most licensing states use. If you move to a state that licenses limited operators, you'll already be prepared.
Does Alabama use the ARRT Limited Scope exam?
Not as a state requirement: Alabama has no limited license exam in the rules we found. Employers can set their own training requirements, and the ARRT Limited Scope exam is what most licensing states use if you move.
