Zygomatic arches
SMV with a light technique shows both arches like jug handles; the tangential oblique shows one arch free of the skull.
Submentovertical
The zygomatic arches are thin bars of bone on each side of the face. They break from a direct blow, and a depressed arch can block the jaw from opening. The routine is a submentovertical view of both arches, a tangential oblique of each arch, and sometimes an AP axial. Because the arches are thin, use a lighter technique than for a full SMV skull so they are not burned out.
