Tibia and fibula

Both the knee and ankle joints on both views; lay the leg corner to corner, or take two images, but don't miss a joint.

Patient and part

The patient lies supine for the AP with the leg extended and the knee and ankle in a true AP, femoral epicondyles parallel to the IR and the foot pointing straight up. For the lateral, the patient turns onto the affected side with the knee flexed about 45 degrees, the patella perpendicular to the IR, and the lateral side of the leg on the IR. In trauma, leave the leg as it lies and take the lateral with a horizontal beam.
