Patient prep: clothing, jewelry and other artifacts
Clear the area before you shoot: jewelry, zippers, underwire, hair ties, dentures, and whatever is in the pockets.
Before the exam
Most artifacts in a clinic are things the patient was wearing. They can hide a fracture or a lung finding, and every one means a repeat. Before each exam, explain what will be removed and why, give the patient a gown when the area is covered by clothing, and ask about pockets, phones and keys. Ask in a way that gives the patient privacy, and give them a secure place for their belongings.
