ChestFull access

NICU portable chest and abdomen

Lowest dose, warm and clean equipment, head straight for the tube check, and know where each line tip belongs.

Before you start

Babies in the neonatal intensive care unit are imaged in the isolette or warmer. Wash your hands, clean the IR and cover it with a clean cover before it goes near the baby. Work with the nurse, who handles the baby and keeps lines and tubes secure. Keep handling and time with the isolette open to a minimum, because premature babies lose heat quickly. Other babies are often close by, so step back at least 6 feet during the exposure, or move behind a shield, and ask others nearby to do the same.
