Bone age: PA left hand and wrist

One PA of the left hand and wrist, fingertips to the distal radius and ulna, centered to the 3rd MCP joint.

What it is for

A bone age study estimates a child's skeletal maturity by comparing the bones of the hand and wrist with a standard atlas, most often Greulich and Pyle. The radiologist judges which ossification centers have appeared and how much the growth plates have closed. It is ordered for children who are growing too fast or too slowly, for early or late puberty, and for hormone and growth disorders.
